Privacy
RockScan uses your account details to sign you in and keep your collection private. Clerk provides account authentication, Stripe processes subscriptions, and Neon stores account and collection data. Vercel hosts the application.
Your photos and scans
When you identify a specimen, your photo is resized, its embedded metadata is removed, and it is sent to OpenAI for image analysis. We request that the analysis response is not stored by the API; the provider’s own security and retention policies also apply. Avoid including faces or personal information in your photos.
The photo you select before checkout is kept in your browser’s session storage for up to 24 hours and is cleared after a successful scan. When you save a specimen, its photo, identification, notes and location are stored in your account until you delete it.
Payments and account controls
RockScan does not receive your full card number. You can manage or cancel your subscription from your profile, export your saved collection, and delete individual specimens.
Advertising and attribution
We use the Whop Pixel to understand which ads bring visitors to RockScan and how visitors use the scanner and checkout. It uses browser identifiers, cookies, page URLs and ad click information. After a confirmed checkout, we may share your checkout email, trial status and amount paid with Whop to measure conversions and match them to ads, including Meta ads. Your rock photos and scan results are not sent to the advertising pixel.
Ad landing information is kept in your browser for up to 30 days and can be attached to your Stripe checkout. Clearing your browser cookies and site data removes the identifiers stored on your device. Browser privacy settings and blockers may limit this tracking.
